Electronics in Portugal: Best Stores & Amazon Guide (2026)

March 21, 2025

Last Updated: January 7, 2026 | By: Immo Lusitania

You have just signed the deed (Escritura) on your dream property in Portugal. You walk in, open the kitchen door, and realize… the fridge is missing.

Unlike in the US or UK, where appliances often stay with the house, it is common in Portugal (especially with older properties) for sellers to take everything with them—sometimes even the light fixtures.

Suddenly, your priority shifts from “Real Estate” to “Logistics.” Where do you buy a washing machine in the Algarve? Who delivers to rural Alentejo? And why is there no Amazon.pt?

Here is my expert guide to fitting out your new home, focusing on delivery reliability and warranty support.

1. The “Big Box” Stores (White Goods & TVs)

If you need a washing machine, fridge, or 65-inch TV delivered and installed, these are your two main options.

Worten

  • Best For: Everything. They are the market leader in Portugal.

  • Why Home Buyers Use Them: They have the strongest delivery network. If you buy a heavy American-style fridge, their team will deliver it, install it, and haul away the old one (often for a small fee).

  • Buyer’s Warning: Their website is a marketplace (like Amazon). When buying large appliances, filter for “Vendido por Worten” (Sold by Worten) to ensure you get their official installation service, not a third-party courier who leaves the box on the curb.

Rádio Popular

  • Best For: Kitchen Appliances (Stoves, Dishwashers).

  • Why Home Buyers Use Them: Their physical stores are often less chaotic than Worten. They carry excellent mid-range brands like Bosch, Siemens, and AEG. Prices are often 5-10% lower during their “Promo Weekends.”

2. The “Where is Amazon?” Solution

This confuses almost every new expat. There is no Amazon.pt.

However, Amazon Spain (Amazon.es) is the de facto Amazon for Portugal.

  • How it works: You can log in with your existing Amazon account. Set the language to English or Portuguese.

  • Prime Benefits: You can sign up for Amazon Prime on the Spanish site. It covers fast delivery to Portugal (often 24-48 hours).

  • What to buy: Small electronics, smart home sensors, tools, and cables.

  • What NOT to buy: Large appliances (Fridges/Ovens). Returning a broken washing machine to Spain is a logistical nightmare. Buy these locally.

3. The Premium Choice: El Corte Inglés

  • Best For: Luxury Brands (Smeg, Miele, Dyson).

  • Why Home Buyers Use Them: If you are furnishing a high-end villa and want a retro Smeg fridge or a Miele wine cooler, this is the place.

  • The Service: Their customer service is widely considered the best in Iberia. If an item is faulty, they replace it without argument. They deliver nationwide from their hubs in Lisbon and Porto.

4. Tech & Home Office: Fnac & PC Diga

  • Fnac: Found in most major shopping malls (like Algarve Shopping). Good for Apple products, high-end laptops, and books. It is more expensive, but the in-store support is good.

  • PC Diga: The “Geek’s Choice.” If you are building a serious home office and need specific monitors, fast routers, or gaming gear, they have the best technical inventory and prices.

💡 Pro Tip: Compare Prices Instantly

Electronics prices fluctuate wildly in Portugal. When you are standing in a store looking at a washing machine, you should always check the online price at Amazon ES or KuantoKusta (Portugal’s price comparison site).

  • Don’t rely on store Wi-Fi: It is often spotty in large concrete warehouses.

  • Get Instant Data: I recommend downloading an Airalo eSIM before you go shopping. It gives you reliable 5G data immediately so you can price-check on the go without expensive roaming fees.

5. Important: Voltage & Plugs

If you are moving from the US or Canada, read this carefully.

  • Voltage: Portugal uses 230V.

  • The Danger: If you plug a 110V American blender or hairdryer directly into the wall, it will explode.

  • The Exception: Laptops, iPads, and phone chargers are usually “Dual Voltage” (110-240V). Read the fine print on the power brick. If it says “100-240V,” you only need a simple plug adapter (Type F), not a voltage converter.
